The Science of Copaiba:
Learning about the Endocannabinoid System/ECS has been so fascinating. Scientists weren’t even aware of its existence until the early 90’s! Due to the ever more popular use of THC and CBD for pain relief, seizures, cancer treatment and so much more, scientists finally got funding to do research. They discovered a complex system that overlays the entire body to maintain function and health and named it after their pursuit to find how the body receives thereputic benefits from Cannabis. ECS is comprised of many cannabinoid receptors and they also found the body naturally produces its own cannabiniods. Cannabinoids are any chemical compounds that connects to ESC receptors. Many popular super foods and traditional medicines are high in cannabinoids. It is becoming more understood that increasing the amount of cannabinoids within the diet can maintain and restore proper health.


The ESC is made up of receptors called CB1 receptors &CB2 receptors.
CB1 connects with THC and is what gives the euphoria and “high”. CB1 is distributed throughout the Central Nervous System
CB2 connects with CBD and BCP (more on this later) and gives pain relief, reduces inflammation and lowers stress and anxiety. CB2 distributes throughout the Endocrine System (hormones and other stuff that goes over my head) and Immune System (which is important to note, includes the digestive system). The main chemical compounds in Cannabis are THC, CBD and BCP.


BCP Beta-Caryophyllene is the key ingredient in CBD and Copaiba that give it its pain reliving magic. CBD does not directly connect to CB2 receptors but Copaiba does! In addition, Copaiba has a much higher concentration of BCP. The Copaiba essential oil we use in our Liquid Light blend is thoroughly tested and regulated to make sure it is pure and consistent. This is a feature that most CBD companies don’t offer. Copaiba is more cost effective and contains no THC making it more accessible and easy to use.


The Spirituality of Copaiba:
Copaiba is derived from a tree, so naturally it has a very grounding effect. It’s healing properties are associated with the Earth Star Chakra. Located about 8-12 inches below the bottoms of our feet, the Earth Star Chakra connects us deeply to the core of the Earth, the abundance of her healing gifts and her sacred energy. It is responsible for containing, balancing, regulating and amplifying the whole of our chakra system. It works to dispel negative energy and keep us grounded in our human experience.
When functioning properly this vibrant energy center is a direct connection to our purpose and our gifts. Copaiba helps bring us back into our purpose, which is so hard to be in when we are experiencing pain. The Earth Star Chakra helps us to align with our souls truth. Its all too easy to loose sight of our true self when dealing with pain. Copaiba helps us center, bring inspiration, clarity and self-compassion. In my experience dealing with chronic pain, I found it so difficult to remember what was important to me. I struggled with finding enough compassion for myself to create the space and time to get the rest I really needed. There is a lot to unpack in the way our system treats illness, pain and recovery.
